This is part 3 of the larger module, “Informal Academic Diagnostic Assessment: Using Data to Guide Intensive Instruction.” This part is intended to provide participants with an introduction to error analysis of curriculum-based measures for the purpose of identifying skill deficits and providing examples of error analysis in reading and mathematics. Part 4, “Identifying Target Skills,” will further link these skill deficits to intervention.

Data-based individualization (DBI) is a research-based process for individualizing and intensifying interventions through the systematic use of assessment data, validated interventions, and research-based adaptation strategies. The DBI process includes five iterative steps:
This module focuses on behavioral theory and is an introduction to observing and measuring behavior. By the end of this module, you should be able to: Describe the rationale and importance of behavior support Define and identify elements of basic behavioral theory including three-term contingency, reinforcement, punishment and extinction Define and describe the function of behavior
Intensive Intervention in Reading Course: Module 7 Overview This module provides strategies on how to adapt comprehension instruction to improve instructional modeling, provide practice opportunities, elicit frequent responses, and give effective feedback. This module is divided into two parts with an introduction and closing. A 508 compliant version of the full PowerPoint presentation across all parts of the module, a version of the PowerPoint that includes all the animations, and a workbook is available below.
Intensive Intervention in Reading Course: Module 6 Overview This module provides strategies on how to adapt word reading instruction to improve instructional modeling, student practice, and approaches to giving feedback. This module is divided into three parts with an introduction. A 508 compliant version of the full PowerPoint presentation across all parts of the module, a version of the PowerPoint that includes all the animations, and a workbook is available below.
This module serves as an introduction to important concepts and processes for implementing functional behavior assessment (FBA), including behavior basics such as reinforcement and punishment. Throughout this module, participants will discuss both real world and school based examples to become familiar with the FBA process and develop a deeper understanding and awareness of the functions of the behavior. Key topics include (a) defining FBAs in the context of DBI; (b) basic concepts in behavior, including antecedents, behaviors, and consequences; (c) levels of FBAs; and (d) considerations and procedures for conducting FBAs.
This module describes how to use data (Module 6) to inform decision making in the classroom. How do you know you are choosing the right interventions, and implementing with the right intensity, to influence a change in student behavior? By the end of this module you should be able to: Describe why we use data for decision making Determine if core features of classroom management practices are in place with fidelity Determine if all individuals in your classroom are achieving desired outcomes Develop an action plan to enhance or intensify support as needed
Intensive Intervention in Reading Course: Module 4 Overview This module provides an overview of data-based individualization (DBI), including using CBM measures, how to present level of performance and set student goals, and use data to make instructional decisions. This module is divided into five parts with an introduction and closing. A 508 compliant version of the full PowerPoint presentation across all parts of the module, a version of the PowerPoint that includes all the animations, and a workbook is available below.
This module discusses consequence strategies to increase behavior. More specifically, how do you encourage more of the desired behavior? This module introduces a variety of different strategies to do this. By the end of this module you should be able to: Describe consequence strategies to increase behavior Establish a continuum of strategies to acknowledge appropriate behavior Appropriately adjust use of reinforcement
This module discusses consequence strategies to decrease behavior. By the end of the module you should be able to: Describe consequence strategies to decrease behavior Establish a continuum of strategies to respond to inappropriate behavior
