Does my school have to be implementing RTI or PBIS in order to implement intensive interventions?

Question:  Does my school have to be implementing RTI or PBIS in order to implement intensive interventions?

Answer:  That’s…that’s kind of an easy question, I think. The answer would be yes, ideally there would be multiple tiers of interventions working with different students in different ways and sometimes working with the same child in three different ways. But in reality, if a child needs intensive intervention, no matter what the setting is, some really serious work on foundational skills and basically trying to prepare the child for core classroom instruction is critical, and that’s the key thing.
