The National Center on Intensive Intervention has established a standard process to evaluate the scientific rigor of commercially available tools and interventions that can be used as part of a data-based individualization program for educating students with disabilities who require intensive intervention due to persistent learning and behavior problems. Over the course of its funding period, the Center will conduct annual reviews of tools and interventions in the following four domains: Academic Progress Monitoring, Academic Intervention, Behavioral Progress Monitoring, and Behavioral Intervention.
The reviews are conducted by four Technical Review Committees (TRCs). Each TRC is made up of national experts who together have developed rigorous evidence standards to guide the review process. All submitters of tools will be required to complete an evaluation form based on these standards. Information on tools will be disseminated through the Center’s various technical assistance activities and through this website.
